The initial design work had been done by Joel Overton and I worked closely with Adam filling the content, making the site cross-platform compatible and making the site live. The site went live at the end of January 2012 and has been seen by well over 40,000 unique viewers.

The primary purpose of the site is to list Amateur Transplants’ gigs (and hence sell tickets) as well as showcasing their music (and flogging t-shirts). As such the site needs to update often, which lead me to build Amateur Gigging, a web application built in bootstrap, which provides the data which powers the site.

Welcome Along

I’ve thought for a while it’s important to keep a diary of my activities and escapades online somewhere. I’ve found myself with a little more free time than expected this summer so I intend to get in to the habit of writing about my life. Expected topics include (but are not limited to):

Programming (NOT Brogramming)

My final year project (probably on traffic and route planning in cities)

Music & DJing

I obviously already have Twitter, Instagram, Foursquare and Facebook accounts (amongst others) but I like the permanence and customisability provided by Tumblr over that of Facebook. I’ll still be tweeting (and probably Instagram-ming and Foursquare-ing), but this is where I’ll put anything of note I wish to keep.

Hopefully this post will serve as a motivator: when I look back in 6 months and see no more I’ll feel bad and actually write something, rather than reblogging pictures of kittens…
